There is a story behind every teen that gets into trouble.
Bay Point Schools is an accredited Miami-Dade County public alternative school. We provide a critical community service by helping at-risk teenage boys complete a successful residential boarding school program. Our focus is turning troubled boys into productive citizens.
This ground-breaking behavioral model incorporates leadership development into our highly effective educational, therapeutic, and vocational programming. Our students are court adjudicated or privately placed; in either case headed in the direction of a troubled future.
Bay Point’s behavior modification program, based on cognitive behavior treatment, is effectively implemented throughout the entire program. It includes a student government status system emphasizing positive peer pressure. Another strong component of Bay Point’s holistic approach is mental health therapies such as Aggression Replacement and Multi-Systemic Therapy. Our teams of mental health experts provide individualized treatment plans including one-on-one therapeutic and group counseling sessions.
He’s not a BAD boy; he is a boy doing BAD things.
We can simply react to our adolescent’s troubled behavior, or we get to the core of the cause. We can punish, or we can choose to listen, counsel, and support. The Bay Point program teaches students to follow norms, be accountable for their actions, and to take responsibility for their life.
Rated the best program by the Juvenile Justice Accountability Board in Florida, Bay Point outshines in all facets of running a successful community safety program for at-risk youth. An outside evaluation team found students improved on all measures, with statistical significance in moral development, arithmetic, spelling and reading. This remarkably innovative program teaches responsibility, accountability and respect for social norms with outstanding results. |
